There is an increasing tendency, particularly with on-line
designers to quickly knock up a logo design with the company
name in some funky typestyle adding a little swoosh or crescent
then consider the company identity complete. While this might
work in a few cases, it usually shows that little thought
or consideration has gone into the logo design (though to
be fair, this is often represented in the price - that old
adage 'you get what you pay for' generally holds true).
It always surprises us how little attention is given to what
is perhaps one of the most important, if not THE most important
element of an organisations visual identity. Remember that
your logo design isn't just going to appear on your website,
but may exist on printed items, promotional material, signage
and even vehicle livery. Your logo design is the visual icon,
or face of your organisation that you are presenting to the
world.
What to look for in a logo design
We feel that a good logo design should be:
- Simple yet elegant, powerful, classic and memorable.
- Conceptually sound - a good logo design should have concepts
behind its design that communicate to the viewer on both
a conscious and subconscious level, giving a message beyond
that stated explicitly in its text.
- Be multiple use - the logo design must look good in single
and two colour process printing for high volume, low price
company identity elements such as compliment slips, letterheads,
invoices, receipts etc. The design should also work for
low resolution fax transmissions whilst offering scope for
more dramatic and complex useage such as 3D, animation,
high colour advertising etc.
- Be recognisable - A good logo design should be instantly
recognisable to your customers. This brand recognition is
achieved over time, so longevity is an extremely important
consideration in your logo design. We always aim to produce
something that is classic, timeless and will serve your
organisation well in years to come, to help you build the
recognition you require.
Logo Design Costs
While we are unfortunately unable to provide fixed price
estimates for logo design without first discussing your project
and carefully analysing your requirements, our rates are very
reasonable and represent excellent value for money. So don't
hesitate to drop us a line using our
contact page if you would like to discuss your company
identity with us.
We can guarantee that your logo design will have considerable
thought, energy, artistic integrity and craftsmanship invested
in it, which will shine through in the end result.

Experimental Logo Design : Vertex Holdings
A few months ago we noticed a competition on a job board
posted by a hosting and design company for a company logo
design.
We really don't like to get involved in such competitions,
but the company name and the service they provide offered
some avenues of exploration for us, so we produced a logo
design and documented the processes that lead us to its completion.
